may 2008

Dear Stampers and Scrappers;

I am writing this Wednesday night in an attempt to get this up on the web tomorrow, May 1st. Today, we worked all day on final arrangements for The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape 2008. This event takes all year to organize and would never be accomplished without my helpers. Melissa, Robin, Ginger, Dixie, Liz, Linda, Helene, Lori-Anne, Carol and Diane, I could not do this without you. These last few weeks have been very hectic. I don’t think a day has gone by without a delivery from UPS or Fed-Ex. We are trying to keep the shelves filled and organized for the big weekend. This is also the time when we are receiving the later shipments we ordered at the winter show. Every order that comes in is like Christmas….a surprise. Yes, we are surprised because we ordered so many things that we can’t remember what we bought! That’s what makes it fun.

Even though we are only two days away from the Stamp Escape, we are already planning for 2009. We are always looking for teachers, so if you have suggestions, let me know. I think the teachers this year will offer some of the most interesting classes we have ever had. We are featuring cardmaking this year, and I think each student will take home lots of wonderful creations.  I am so glad the teachers are excited to join us as that makes the weekend really fun. I have enjoyed working with this group of teachers…..Michael Strong, Lynell Harlow, Karen Lockhart, and Gail Ellison. Thanks, teachers, for your enthusiasn and help.

We have a special event planned for mid-July. The samples are almost finished, and the date is set….Saturday, July 12th. We will have an all day mini-scrapbook-retreat. You will make lots of small scrapbook projects and we will provide lunch, goody bags, and door prizes. This event will appeal to card-makers as well as scrapbook enthusiasts as the projects are all smaller, no 2-page spreads here! The cost for the day will be $80. I think we will be able to provide you with photo sizes to bring if you want to do that. Actually we thought some of the projects would be good with stamped words or images……kind of like cards with several pages! Be sure to check out the samples. I will get photos of the projects up as soon as possible.

You will notice that we are a bit short on classes this month….the post Stamp Escape let-down! We’ll be back on track with a full class schedule in June. We even talked Robin into teaching a beginning scrapbook class. I think this will be a great way for people who want to get started to learn from the beginning. You will have the benefit of learning from others' mistakes. Robin is very creative and has been scrapbooking for years so she knows lots of time and money-saving techniques. Be sure to sign up for this class.

I promise we will get things back to normal in a few days…….stop by to see all of the wonderful new goodies that have come in.

Happy Stampin’ and Scrappin’….

Sharon

                                        WHAT’S NEW?

I don’t know where to start. One of the things we have been looking forward to is the new nature/masculine theme board from Northwoods Rubber Stamps. When I arrived at the winter show, Melissa and Robin dragged me to their booth to see the beautiful sample boards. They were all so colorful and sparkly! We chose the nature one to try first, and we just love it. The card ideas will be great for Father’s Day.

We also just received another ‘buy 2 get 1 free’ board from Inkadinkado. I think this is their best board ever. I know I will have to reorder these beautiful stamps. And just a hint…..I got a flyer on the next board and I think it might be even better!

We have received stamps from lots of companies……Hero Arts, Impression Obsession, Inkadinkado, Northwoods Rubber Stamps, Artlenz, Lockhart Rubber Stamp Co, fabulous new templates from Dreamweaver, My Favorite Things, Cuttlebug and more.

We will be receiving the latest “What’s in the box?” from Memory Box any day…..They plan to ship the 5th, so you will want to stay tuned. Mittens and Peachy are behind on their blog because they have been so busy guarding the heaps of boxes in the back. They said they say a few people peeking in them! I’m sure they will blog about the Memory Box order when it comes in.

We are still expecting large orders from SEI, Heidi Grace, and Cloud 9. These will all be paper orders (a few album kits, too).

I think you will like the new group from K and Company called Blue Awning. We have papers, a mini-book kit and lots of embellishments.

Just a note to those who ordered the large sets of Nestabilities…..they are still on order, I haven’t forgotten you!

There are so many more new things…..You will have to stop by to check them out.
