 Happy Fall;

Finally…it looks like summer has left us. I was thinking on the way to the store this morning that after what everyone on the east coast just went through, I should never complain about the weather. I am so fortunate to have lived my life in California!

We are at the fun time of year for paper crafts. Making holiday cards, gifts, and scrapbooking the wonderful memories that are made with family and friends are all on the front burner. As I do most years, I designed my Christmas card and have now changed my mind. I am working on my second prototype now. My goal is always to have them done by Thanksgiving. That is the goal anyway.

The classes this month should inspire you. Between Lynell and Wayne Harlow who are coming with fabulous ideas and techniques that should knock us out of our ‘safety zone’, and classes that Robin and Melissa have designed, you should be very inspired.

We have received lots of fun things, especially since Michael Strong was here. We will also have lots of fun stuff coming in when Lynell comes. They will be bringing a Trunk Show, which means they will bring a ton of stuff that you can buy while they are here, and I will pick out things to keep for stock.  By the way, their classes are full, but I can still take a waiting list in case someone needs to drop out.

I want to thank everyone who came in to work on cards for Operation Write Home or brought in cards. We mailed 200 cards off to meet the Christmas deadline. We will be mailing again mid-December which will be the deadline for Valentine’s Day. If you are interested in participating, you can check out the rules at www.operationwritehome.org  or come in the store and we will fill you in on the details. Remember, these are cards we are sending to the troops who are deployed overseas for them to send back to their families and friends. We had a great time getting our first batch ready and we are working on new cards now.

As we get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope you take time out for yourself. We all seem to keep so busy and get wrapped up in the excitement of the holidays that we end up exhausted. (I should talk). Don’t do as I do, do as I say J.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

PLEASE NOTE: We will close at 3pm Wednesday, Nov. 22 and will be closed Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving. See you Friday, Nov 24 for a fun day of shopping!

                                          What’s New?

After Michael was here and convinced us we ‘had to have’ Viva Décor Inka Gold and Glitter Pens, we received them in all colors. He obviously did such a good job convincing us (I tell you he is better than Tim Holtz when it comes to telling us why we need things) that we have sold out and reordered. I love the Inka Gold because it is VERY metallic.  It is creamy and you rub it on with either your finger or a dauber. The glitter pen has the patented tip that is also on the Pearl Pen. It makes a nice fine line of glitter and the glitter comes out of the tip very smoothly. If you didn’t get your Inka Gold and Glitter Pens on the first go-around, you should come to check them out.

Several collections came from SEI. They have absolutely the prettiest foiled and glittered papers on the market. The papers are all double sided and even though the back side is not foiled or glittered, the prints are so beautiful. Be sure to check both sides of all of the papers…..there is never enough space for us to display both sides of all of the papers.

As always, the latest Northwoods Rubber Stamps idea board is yummy. They have the knack when it comes to glitter. This board features wintery scenes and lots of snow. I know you will love it.

We have new dies from Memory Box and Poppy Stamps. Robin is using them in her class this month that we are calling Holiday Windows. The use of these new window dies offers many ways to create scenes both looking in and looking out! Check out the class schedule to see the cards. You will want to sign up for sure.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the whimsical Doodlebug Christmas paper, Melissa is using it in her class this month. We thought it was one of the cutest papers we saw with some traditional colors, and some that are not so traditional. Something for everyone!

If you missed out on getting some of the beautiful metallic leaf when I taught the Penny Black class, we have it in again. There are variegated colors in red, green, blue and black, as well as the basics of gold, silver and copper. We also have their stamp cleaner that people are raving about. Check it out.

May Arts ribbons came, just a small order to fill in, however we did get gold and silver ribbons that are perfect for your Christmas cards. Be sure to ask us to point them out to you.
