News Highlights Classes New Paper Poppy Stamps Dies Dreamweaver Class Operation Write Home |
Hello again;
It is supposed to be fall, but I am not feeling it....I was so happy that my husband and I had a chance to go to Cambria for a couple of days for our 45th wedding anniversary. I loved the 62 degree weather, but wasn't crazy about the higher price of gas. It was fun visiting my friend, Karen Anderson who owns Paws on Main...the tiniest stamp store you have ever seen. On our way home we stopped in Paso Robles to visit a new store, The Creative Stamp. Teri and her sister, Bonnie, opened the store in July. If you have a chance to check their store out, tell them I said hi! While in Cambria we had the most pleasant surprise. We waited in line to eat at the Sea Chest and chatted with the couple behind us. It turned out they lived in Van Nuys where my husband had worked as an LAPD motorcycle officer before he retired. We told them we were there to celebrate our anniversary. After we were seated and enjoyed a very nice dinner, the waitress brought us dessert and wished us a Happy Anniversary. We were very surprised, but deduced that the couple in line behind us had sent the dessert to our table as they were the only people in the restaurant who knew what we were celebrating. Then, after clearing our table, the waitress told us our dinner had been taken care of! We were speechless. We stopped by their table and thanked them. They tried to act innocent, but it was pretty pretty easy to figure out. I have to tell you that with all of the terrible things we hear every day, this act of generosity is something we will always remember. Now, back to business.....we really enjoyed having Michael and Carla Strong visit us on the 21st and 22nd. Michael is a delightful teacher and so much fun! I know everyone who attended the classes really had a great time. We are happy that Lynell and Wayne Harlow from Dreamweaver Stencils will be visiting in November. Be sure to watch your emails for full details on their classes. I do have samples in the store for the Molten Magic class, but it will be a few days before we iron out times and the other details. Stay tuned! WHAT'S NEW?
With Halloween creeping closer, we have fun new cardstock for your Halloween cards and photos. We also received some really unique lightweight 12x12 paper that Bazzill calls vintage. It comes in three prints.....music, newsprint, and script. It will be perfect to distress and layer as a background. This is defintely worth checking out.
I just received an email from Dave Brethauer, saying his kids' company had a bunch of new dies. I checked them out and will definitely order them They have some great windows....even stained glass. I know they will be very popular. Within a couple of days, we will receive the new paper Christmas release from Doodlebug. It is very whimsical. I think Melissa may use it on one of her treat projects at her first class this month. Speaking of classes, we are really gearing up for holiday card classes. Be sure to check the class schedule. The Stamp of the Month board is really cute, from Inky Antics. You will love the animals who are sending their holiday wishes. When Michael was here, he introduced us to a couple of really great products from Viva Decor. We now have Inka Gold, a very metallic paint in lots of colors, and the Glitter Pen that lays down a nice fine line of glitter glue. Everyone at class really loved these products. With Christmas approaching, we have ordered lots of new papers and embellishments that will make your cards pop! Stop in to check out the new goodies, and remember that we will be mailing our Operation Write Home box by mid October. if you have made cards, especially Christmas, please bring them in soon. At the Oct. 30th meeting we will be working on all occasion and Valentine cards. Thanks for supporting the troops! See you soon.....
