Can it really be May?
Is it just me, or is everyone surprised it is May already? Maybe because...again this year....we were not busy with The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape in April. I kept having photos pop up in my Facebook feed.....reminding me is what we were doing 2, 3, 4 years ago in April. There were piles of empty boxes and stacks of product in the classroom area waiting to go to The Pines. It just seemed so weird that we were not deep in the middle of hosting Stamp Escape. We are getting back to normal, though. Our classes are once again every Saturday. I spoke with Julie Kelly yesterday and she will be here in August to teach Saturday and Sunday. We decided to do something a little different this time. Instead of featuring only one company, she will choose the newest products and techniques from four companies. Each half-day class will feature two companies. As we get closer and have our companies chosen and classes organized, we will let you know the schedule.
Are you following us on Facebook? If you are, you will be first to see new things that arrive in the store. Yesterday Melissa posted a photo of the new paper flowers that came in. We just said yesterday that we feel that we are getting back to our usual ordering schedules. We are seeing a little progress on the receiving end also. That is really good news! If you follow us, you will also be able to keep up with the antics of Quill and Doodlebug (mostly Doodlebug's antics...Quill is the supervisor).
Just because you didn't come to Stamp Escape this year, it doesn't mean you can't visit. We love seeing our out-of-town friends! A day trip (or a few days) to Oakhurst may be just the thing to lift the fog we have all been in. Yosemite is beautiful at this time of year and the hotels and restaurants are welcoming everyone (mostly with indoor dining). If you can't come by, we would still love to get a quick email from you to know you are all OK.
Have a great day;
What's New?
Well....we have been busy ordering! Here are some of the new things that have been arriving...We love the black watercolor paper that Melissa used in her online class. We have plenty of it and we also have reordered the Nuvo Shimmer Powders that she used. We ordered all of the colors available and most are now in stock. If you haven't played with these fun powders, you are missing out!
We also re-stocked the pearlescent watercolors from Yasutomo and are of great value and we should have the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors set that Melissa used in her online class back in stock soon. We just ordered a new Opal watercolor palette. They should be here any day. We can't wait to play with them. In the palette, they look white, but when you paint with them, they are actually different pastel colors. They really show their color on dark paper but are also beautiful on white or light paper. Watch for Melissa to use them in a future class.
You may have seen a photo of the new paper flowers that came in quite a few colors. Each pack is a great variety of sizes. They are dimensional, but not so dimensional that most can't be mailed.
The new Mini-Domed Foam pads that velcro onto your wood tool from Tim Holtz are here. I don't know what took so long to come out with these! I think the rounded edge is ideal as it will not leave a mark when you are blending. You won't need a new wood tool to use these new foam pads.
The newest Distress color, Salvaged Patina, will be here Friday. There may be a couple of the products that will come in a separate shipment, but if you want any of the usual products, let us know so we can set them aside.
Our last order from Penny Black has really been flying out of here. They actually had a die set to match stamps in a clear set this time. That is something they have not done before. As you may know, they have beautiful frames and other stand-alone detailed dies. They are also made in the US and are very high quality. I am glad to see they must be testing the waters on the matching stamps and dies as about 2/3 of our customers prefer dies to "fussy cutting".
For anyone who placed an order with us for Lavinia products, they are winging their way here. I believe I should have the order in the store by the end of next week. This order seemed to have more time between ordering and shipping than usual. I have no idea what is going on in Wales, but I was happy to get the shipping notification.
We recently ordered some really fun new stamps and dies from Impression Obsession. We have not received a shipping notice, however, they should be here soon.
Our friends at Taylored Expressions have come out with a set of 2 blending brushes, one black, and one white. This is a great idea as you never want to contaminate either color ink with another color. We have ordered those and also their new Bitty Blender Brushes for blending in tight places.
As you can see we have had a good time ordering! Now we just need to get everything in and out to you!
We hope to see you soon. Check out the class schedule and call to sign up. Remember to follow us on Facebook for the latest information.
