It's Birthday Month!
Newsletter
Hello....
August is "birthday month". At least it is for Melissa and me. Melissa celebrates her birthday August 12th and mine is August 22nd. To help celebrate, if you have an August birthday, stop by the store on your big day and you will receive 15% off your purchase. If by chance your birthday falls on a Sunday, you can come in the day prior or after (we love you but we are not opening Sunday for you....sorry). We hope to see all of you August babies soon! And just so the rest of you aren't left out.....we will also award a birthday discount to those who shop on their birthday any month during the year! We just want to take the opportunity to thank you for supporting us and make your special day a little more special.
As we get closer to the end of the year, we are busier than ever. We are getting a lot of questions about Stamp Escape registration. We have not opened registration yet because we really want to have the teacher's confirmed first. Hopefully, now that the summer trade show in Las Vegas (grasshoppers and all) is over, we will be able to get this nailed down. Watch your email for the "Registration is Open" notice!
Now for some sad news... a few days ago, Clearsnap broke the news that they are closing their business. Clearsnap is the manufacturer of Color Box products. When I opened in 1995, they were the only real resource for crafting inks. I can remember ordering cases of gold pigment ink from them at Christmas so absolutely everyone could stamp their holiday cards with gold ink! At that time, they had very little competition in the industry. Stewart Superior, who manufacturers inks and embossing powders for many of the current stamp companies was probably the only other ink supplier to the craft industry at the time. Of course, the addition of Ranger and Tsukeneko created a lot of competition. I have noticed at trade shows that the Clearsnap booth got smaller each year as the other companies' booths got larger and larger. It is always sad to lose a company that I have done business with for so many years.
If you haven't already signed up for Julie Kelly's classes at the end of the month, don't wait too long. Julie will use the Fall/Winter release from Lawn Fawn. It will be a really, really new release, arriving on August 22nd for our August 24th and 25th classes. As before, the class fee is $35 for one class or $60 for both classes. The morning classes will be Fall/Halloween and the afternoon classes will be Winter/Christmas. There will be at least one interactive card in each four-card class. Lawn Fawn is releasing some really adorable images and new clever interactive dies. You will also get to use some of their other new products to embellish your work. Check out the class schedule and sign up soon to secure your space. Class fees need to be paid by check or cash but can be reserved with a credit card that will only be charged if you fail to show for class. I will provide a list of tools and materials to bring to class to those who sign up.
Thanks to everyone who assured me that I am no different from the rest of you and it is possible I am not ready for the "Old Crafter's Home" yet. Again I apologize for the confusion when I emailed the latest online catalogs, calling the Hero Arts catalog the Stampendous catalog. I hope you enjoy looking through the catalogs and find the samples helpful.
Speaking of Hero Arts, when Julie was here a few months ago teaching a Hero Arts Class, we introduced you to their Reactive Inks. Several asked if there were reinkers. They have just added reinkers for all colors, so if you are interested please let me know so I can get them for you.
Some of you have asked about Copics. Since the company has dropped their US distributor, we are finding it harder to get colors of pens and refills. We hope they will get this all figured out in the next couple of months.
I hope you all continue to have a great summer and we can get through without any disastrous fires this year.
We hope to see you soon!
What's New?
As I mentioned, there are now reinkers for Hero Arts Reactive inks. I do not have these in stock yet, so let me know if you want them set aside for you.
From Nuvo....we finally have Aqua Shimmer pens in stock again. We also have Dew Drops, White Blizzard and Glaze that we had been out of for some time.
We are totally out of the much sought after Taylored Expressions blending brushes and brush caddy. We will order more when they are available....do you need to be on the list?
Melissa has used some of our new Carta Bella fall paper collection on her Welcome Sign wood project. This is a beautiful paper collection. I love the weight and texture of this paper. You can get a glimpse of it on the Classes page.
If you are a fairy fan, we have new images from Lavinia and we also have beautiful new Fairy Edger dies from Creative Expressions that you will love. Kathy will be teaching a class with these in the future.
At the end of the month, there will be lots new from Lawn Fawn. Our Hero Arts Impression Obsession orders should be here soon. As usual, we will keep you posted.
