Happy Thanksgiving

Newsletter

Hello everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you are enjoying fall weather where you are and are working hard on your holiday cards. There is so much to do this time of year, I try to get busy a bit early on Christmas cards, but still seem to be last minute. This year I really have to work at it as my goal is to mail cards before I go on vacation December 2nd. We shall see......

There are tons of things going on here as usual. We have been ordering a lot of new things although this is usually a slower time for the vendors to come out with new product. We are planning on attending the trade show (now AFCI instead of CHA...previously HIA...yikes!) in Phoenix again this year in January and that is when the vendors release most of their newest products. Right now I am starting to see some winter (as opposed to Christmas) releases, and also Valentine's Day images and paper. It seems like so far off, but is really just around the corner.

We have a couple of new vendors, too. I just ordered paper from Alexandra Renke. I don't really have information of the company, but it looks interesting. Since I need to feel paper to know if I like it, I just ordered 4 or 5 different ones this time to see the quality. You can help me decide!

We are anxiously awaiting the Fairy Dust Collection from Graphic 45. Those of you who know me know that fairies are not really my 'thing'. However I love this collection, and I love the beautiful fairies from Lavinia...soooooo....I just had to place another order with Lavinia for stamps to go with the paper from Graphic 45.

We really had fun putting classes together for this month and are setting dates for next month, too. In December there will not be a class on Saturday, December 23rd, but there will be a class on Saturday, December 30th. Be sure to check out the classes for November on the website. We have classes offering last minute beautiful Christmas cards as well as whimsical general purpose cards and a very cool technique class.

We are thinking about starting some scrapbook classes again, maybe once a month. We would like to know your thoughts on what type of class you might like to do. If you have an opinion, email me to let me know whether 1) I want each page to be a work of art, 2) I just want to get my photos organized with something simple, 3) I want fun themes with a few photos and journaling or 4) you tell me....

As always, thanks for supporting The Cat's Meow and Happy Holidays!

                                                      What's New?
New, fun stamps and dies on the way from Taylored Expressions. They are always coming up with the cutest things! Melissa is planning to to a great class with their products in the early spring...no clues yet, but you will love it!

For all of you Laurel Burch fans, there will be a new display board with 'just released' images. Melissa will be doing Stamp of the Month with this board the first Saturday in December while I am gone. By the way, I will try to post photos from my trip on the Cat's Meow facebook page. I am going to Norway, in search of the Northern Lights. I hope to get some of those beautiful, colorful photos that you see on Pinterest! I will be going along the coast from the southwest all the way to within 30 miles of the Russian border in the north, so I should have a good chance. Watch facebook to see if I am successful.

Memory Box has come out with a new ribbon. We ordered a couple of colors to see what it is like. It is made in Italy and is cotton with metallic thread...1/2" wide. We are as picky about ribbon as we are about paper, so we will want to hear your feed back about the new ribbon. It should be here in a few days along with some cute new dies.

Speaking of dies......who would have ever thought we would be cutting everything with dies? When they first came out, I  never thought anyone would want to buy square or rectangle dies. I knew circle and oval dies would sell because they were so hard to cut with those nasty things we used to use! Now we have all of the beautiful, delicate images that an x-acto knife or scissors would never cut! I was thinking this morning about the things that have made changes in paper crafting and I think dies and Distress Oxide Inks are two of the biggies.....what do you think?

We have added some colors of Nuvo Drops and Melissa has made a color chart for them to make it easier for you to choose. Unless you want them all, or course!

We are having so much fun with the wood classes that Melissa is doing. When we first saw them, we thought they were so cute and decided to make them into a monthly class. Frankly, for the first couple of months we were a bit disappointed in the class attendance. Then once people started seeing them finished, more and more people started wanting to make them. The pieces are reasonably priced and easy to do.  They come pre-sanded and just take a bit of acrylic paint and fun paper. There are lots of pieces other than the ones we have for class that are available and we would be happy to show them to you.

Be sure to check out the class schedule on the website. Call 559-642-6611 to sign up!
