Hello;

I am so happy to welcome Fall! I think everyone in California is waiting for the arrival of El Nino. This summer has been a real nightmare for just about every area of our state with horrible fires, loss of homes, lives, and displacement of so much wildlife. We are seeing so many animals (bears, mountain lions and others) who are looking for food and safety...but in inhabited areas where they are not very welcome. Unfortunately the outcome for them is not good. Maybe a good (bad) winter will help us all....trees, wells, farmers, wildlife, and the rest of us, too!

In the meantime, we keep looking ahead, and this time of year we are always especially hopeful. For the store, Halloween is right on top of us! Classes this month include some Halloween, but after that we are really focusing on Christmas. We will even have a workshop day this month for everyone to come work on their Christmas projects......Mark your calendar for October 17th...call to reserve a workspace! No charge!

We have a great selection of Christmas papers and stamps. We have vintage, traditional and whimsical....something for everyone! The class projects offer great ideas, and as always, great fellowship. Check out the class schedule on the website at www.catsmeowstamps.com and click on classes.

We will be placing an order with Impression Obsession soon. If you want to look through the catalog and put in your 'wants' we will be sure to include them. Something else to keep in mind, if you love Distress inks and know you must have all colors, get on our list.....we have people who want a pad and re-inker, or pen in each color and we routinely make sure we have enough stock so they will get theirs as soon as they arrive and we will still have some for stock. They sell out pretty quickly, so this would ensure that you get yours.

So many fun things have come in this month. Everything from embossing folders, new dies, new paper, new stamps, and of course fill-in's on basics. I am just getting up to speed after being out of the store for a while. To top everything off, we wanted to be up to date on our credit card processing soooooo.....we got a new little machine (very uptown like the big stores) that will eventually read the new cards with chips or also with magnetic strips. Of course getting the new card reader required updating our entire point of sale system. We did it all yesterday with only a few glitches and three calls to Intuit. This will be a learning curve for us, and might make things seem a bit slow at times. I think ultimately we should have more information at our fingertips.... when we figure out where it is :) I think I have heard something about resisting change as you get older... hmmmm.

I want to thank you again for the many cards and wishes following my husband's passing. I am so grateful for the many donations to the Eastern Madera County SPCA in his memory. We are hoping to get our grading permit very soon and start the building process....I can hardly wait! We have so many needy animals that this facility will help. Hugs to you all. To answer questions I have gotten, I am doing well. I certainly have lots of support. I am fortunate to have a lovely house where I will stay with my canine/feline/avian brood. The store will continue to grow and will be here as long as you want us! We are approaching our 20th anniversary....watch out for information next month!

Thanks again for supporting the store and for supporting me, personally...I love  you all!

Coloring Books Oh MY! The big craze, adult coloring books! We cannot keep them in stock! We have some in and more on the way. The are so much fun, even for those who say they are not crafters. Coloring is a great stress reliever and is something you can do in a very small space....grab your book and some colored pencils and you are in business. For the serious colorer....take your book apart and copy the images on the cardstock of your choice which will allow you to use any medium you want without worry about color bleeding through. The images in these books range from those with large open areas perfect for shading to those with intricate spaces similar to zentangle. Subject matter of all types....mystical, nature, art deco, you name it. Prices range from about $4 to $15. These books would make great Christmas gifts, too. Check them out when you are in the store.
